As writers, we all know how good it feels to type the words: “The End.” I rarely include those words in my novels, but I type them anyway as a means to put closure to the work that I’ve been laboring over for so many months…er, years in some cases. At this point in novel production, it’s time to celebrate. Nevermind that I know all too well how long the road is to seeing that drafted manuscript in book form, that night, I’m going to sit back with a glass of wine and bask in my success. And, if you’ve just finished a novel manuscript, you should do exactly the same.

Today, I’m not certain if it’s a better feeling or only equally as satisfying, but I put the finishing touches on the files for 3rd of The Caeteran Tales, Cursed Talent, and uploaded them to the printer. Preparation of those documents is tedious, and it is very little in the way of a creative outlet in the process. But after it’s done, there is another huge sense of completion, that’s for sure. It’s good, or at the very least a relief. Now, I do have a couple of days to wait to ensure that the files meet all the standards, but having done this several times, my confidence is high. Tonight, there’s a spicy glass of Zinfandel in my future, and I’m itching to order the first batch of my 3rd book!

In other news, over the last couple of days, I’ve completed an initial proofread for a client’s manuscript, done some cover and interior work for another client, and I’m getting ready to sink into the final proofing for my first large editing project of the year. This week, so far, has been all about The Write Prose. I haven’t posted my goals in a couple of weeks, but I plan to get back to that this week…and back to my worldbuilding series next week. For now, I’m knocking things off the list one at a time.

Feeling good about editing this week. And, getting some of these things wrapped up means that there will be some wonderful new reads on the shelf very soon, and that turns my end into a beginning.

What is everyone else feeling great about today?
